Harrison County at War — Steve & Penny Carlile Gallery at Memorial City Hall

HARRISON COUNTY AT WAR

A County That Has Always Answered the Call

The Service & Sacrifice Gallery at Memorial City Hall is the most complete record of Harrison County’s military history in existence. It covers more than 150 years of American conflict, from the Civil War to the War on Terror, with artifacts, personal effects, photographs, and records belonging to real men and women from this county.

This exhibit wasn’t built around abstract history. It was built around people. Harrison County people.

INSIDE THE EXHIBIT

Walk Through History

The Warfront

The Warfront rooms put you where the fighting happened. Artifacts, maps, photographs, and video bring each conflict into focus, with Harrison County servicemembers as the through line. If you’ve ever wanted to understand what your grandfather actually lived through, this is where to start.

The Homefront

Every war is also fought at home. The Homefront rooms document the nurses, volunteers, factory workers, and families who kept things running while the soldiers were away. Their contribution doesn’t always get named. Here, it does.

The Hometown Heroes Gallery Lobby

Sponsor a lasting memorial for a Harrison County veteran in the Hometown Heroes Gallery Lobby at Memorial City Hall. Your sponsorship places their name and record in a permanent, public tribute that families and visitors will see for years to come.
